MAY is National Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

The 2013 national theme is “Building Leadership: Embrace the Cultural Values and Inclusion”.  Check out how APANET is helping to build leadership in celebration of AAPI Heritage Month by participating in the events below:

  • ·         TUES, MAY 14th :  COOKING WORKSHOP:  Vietnamese Nem Nuong Summer Rolls in Randolph 1st floor Conference Center @ 12:00 pm

  • ·         THURS, MAY 16th :  TEA BREAK & APANETALK in Randolph 1st floor Conference Center @ 2:00 pm           

APANETalks will be introduced for the first time ever as a forum for discussing and learning about Asian American- and Pacific Islander-related topics. 

Our first APANETalk is “5 Steps to Improving AAPI Representation in the Senior Executive Service” given by Bismarck Myrick, Director of the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity.

The APANETalk is open to all USPTO employees.

Come and learn to speak a little bit of everything including Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Mandarin and etc. at Sumo Hibachi & Sushi Restaurant (behind Madison), special happy hour pricing, mingle, and enjoy light appetizers!

  • ·         WED, MAY 29th :  AAPI HERITAGE MONTH PROGRAM in Madison Auditorium @ 11:00 am

The program will include cultural dances, lunch featuring pan-Asian cuisine, and keynote speaker Ray Chen, Deputy General Counsel for Intellectual Property Law and Solicitor, who has been nominated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
